Machiavellian Leader

A modern day Machiavellian leader is poll pot in Cambodia.  He fits with Machiavelli's quote,"it is greater to be feared than love." Polpot was an extreme Communist of Cambodia.  This man killed thousands of his own people. He definitely wanted to be feared amongst him people than to be loved. I think he wanted to be like this to seem powerful and not weak.

Life as a merchant during the Renaissance

My name is Jerry and I am a merchant that sells used shoes at the downtown market. Not a lot of people go to my shop because of the location. Recently, other who have been here in the market with me have been getting sick. I heard a rumor that it was called the lack plague. I have witnessed people falling over and then suddenly dying. I fear that my family will be next.
I think it would be a good idea  if I went ahead and packed up my family to move else where. I might try to get a job elsewhere at an actual company. I heard of the Medici family through a costumer. They gave me information about the whole family. I'm going to try to get a job at one of their banks. Maybe then I can take care of my family.

Fujiwara Japan

While doing research about the Fujiwara clan, I had an idea to go back in time with my time machine, and visit the giant family. When i first got there, I ended up in a strange forest. There seemed to be a parade of people walking with a somber look on their faces. I went over there to check it out. Two men were carrying a huge crate. It looked as if they were going to go bury someone.
I didn't want to see that aweful sight, so I continued down the road. After a couple of hours of traveling, I finally found a small settlement. One of the people there invited my into their hut. I started talking to them, explaining why I was here, and they suddenly got up in excitement. They dragged me out and showed me a stange looking hut.
I couldn't understand what the man was trying to tell me. Apparently, it was a hut that the Empress Wu was currently in at the moment. I ran over to the place to go check it out. It was quite bare inside, but at the far corner of the room sat the empress. I snapped a quick picture of her before I left. It was neat seeing her because she was the one I was doing research on.
